MP started to crash whenever it was loaded. It took me a while to figure out that I ran out of hard drive space.
MP could be more polite and alert when that happens instead of just crashing...

FYI.

I think it should be possible to use a custom folder for cached thumbnails instead of the default C:\Docs & Settings\Local user\etc... My C-Drive is running low on space, the other drives have loads of room left.

Or is this already possible?

the cache aint that big is it. why don't you move your paging file and temp file directories for windows.
also recommend you download cclearner and run that, it will make a huge difference.

Yes, the cache is big. It contains thousands of music images, fan art, etc. Besides that the skin files also reside on C:. Moving my documents and settings to another partition is in my view a little overkill. It would be much easier and cleaner if I could tell MP to use something d:\MP-Cache as folder (and d:\MP-Skins, etc)

Ah, I see. That would indeed help a bit, but still not a real solution. My C-Drive is a small 10GB partition. Large enough for my WinXP installation, not large enough for my always growing set of MP-related files. I want to be able to separate program and data. I consider folder thumbs and such files data. I've got 1490 GB available, located on D:, E:, F: and G:, not on C: unfortunately.

Tak a look at C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortalDirs.xml where you can change almost any path in the system. Be aware that some plugins may be written, without anyone thinking about that the paths may be different from the default ones. Make a backup of the file before editing it ;)

Ok, thanks. I will take a look at that file.

actually have said that i keep my documents on the non system drive, you can change the shortcut by dragging it, this way you don't loose your documents whenever you reinstall windows.
