If you really want to have TVE3 running on the server OSes, please as Microsoft to provide needed components (BDA , directshow updates etc.). After that is done we can start to support those OSes.

And yet SageTV has a nice WHS add in TV server. Microsoft shouldn't have to provide the required components, they should be bundled in TV Server just like Sage does. Of course since Sage sells their product and has more resources I certainly don't expect it from mediaportal and I'm happy living without a TV server on my WHS and making donations for all the hard work you guys do.

IMO

Sage has two ways to handle it

    • They have made some agreement with Microsoft that they are in legal position to distribute Microsoft binary files (I doubt this)
    • SageTV has more self written components than TVE3 has and isn't as dependant on MS code as we are (more likely situation)
