Why in the world would people design skins and plugins which can only be used on the latest svn's?
Svn's are dangerous, they are unstable... Just look at the problems with 2.3.0 RC2 - nothing but problems.
If you are going to create a skin or plugin for people to use, wouldn't it be smart to create it for the official stable version of MP 0.2.2.0 and later?

Another thing, when will we see a Stable version for 2.3.0? will we have to go to RC4,5,6?

It eases skinners and plugin developers work as they can adjust their work by small steps to match the MP's development. Then it's easier to make a stable release of the plugin / skin when 0.2.3.0 is released.

Another thing, when will we see a Stable version for 2.3.0? will we have to go to RC4,5,6?

When it's ready :D i.e. as soon as the team thinks the quality is on such a level that it's ok to make the stable release.

Those plugins and skins are a big reason why mediaportal seems so attractive for users. And a user does not really care about versions, neither RCs nor SVNs: it just has to work.

But what I don't understand is why Release Candidate Versions get so many new features or big database design changes. From the most projects I know RCs only get bug fixing and the new features go into a main source (with a merge after the RC was released). Anyone considered a similiar approach?

It would be interesting what the ratio of users is if they would come to MP if there would not be any plugins.

Also: A skin like X-face would not be what it is without SVN; many changes were made (in SVN) to make this skin possible (read Harley's post in the X-Face thread).
