Hello,
I've used mediaportal for quite some time and i really like it. So does everyone else that sees it though and then they want me to make them one :) I was wondering if there were any businesses out there that sell a mediacenter PC with mediaportal already setup and configured on it? Or is that against licensing/etc for Mediaportal? I also considered building them and selling them myself but again i wasn't sure if that was legal/against media portals licensing. Can anyone enlighten me on this?

afaik is MP open source, as are all the plugins.
configuring a pc/mediacenter to be ready to use at a home is not really possible.
Each person can have tons of different equipment at home and taking those into account, one can not adapt the settings for everything.
The only thing in such case a vendor could do, would be to install the MP with a naked install, advise on plugins
and the settings to set have to be done when the pc/mediacenter is hooked on...
(tv/amp/router/...)
but the plugins used is entirely up to the user on what he/she needs/wants as plugin.
same for the settings.

so if u take into account that only a naked install off MP would be done...
you might aswell do this yourself at home when all is hooked up.

the setup is rather easy made and can be entered step by step.
so there shouldn't be any prob with that to get it to work either.

Not all plugins are open source. Also, open source does not mean "do as you like" :).

To answer your Q, I have seen several (smaller) webshops selling pre-configured PCs with MediaPortal.

the open source is not a 'do as you like'
don't think i put that in my reply neither...
imo it seems pointless to preinstall it on a resellers box...
every item is best configged to the devices the new owner has. which is impossible to foresee

and imo open source is abt always not allowed to make money off...
meaning that vendors selling boxes with MP on it as an advantage...
means as much as they 'charge' money for a free/open sourced program.
    imo... just not done !
