:) Hello Fellows!

I´m about to buy a PC Remote Control, to use it with MediaPortal.

My budget is $50 (I really don´t want to spend much on it, but I want a good and functional Remote Control )

Any recommendation or advice is going to be greatly appreciated!

I have this 3 options at the moment:

- Option 1

- Option 2

- Option 3

:D!!!

I really like the look of the SRM 5100, but it seems to be very hard to get a hold of... EOL?

hmm..., strange as i bought it from GIGANT, which has stores all over scandinavia(GIGANTTI in finland),if i remember right,
    HQ is in Norway.

From what I can find, all the M$ RC6 (Philips produced) remotes have now been dropped from production, the only products still available are existing stock from the likes of Dell\HP\Hauppauge and any China\Korean manufacturers that think its worthwhile producing them :(

Looks like M$ is leaving the hardware side totally open for outsiders to market a remote if they think they can make money out of it, sadly not so much a problem maybe with modern programmable remotes that can emulate a mce remote, but then you do need a ehome capable receiver to work natively with any version of MCE, now if someone sold that as a seperate item, they would make a fortune out of them, just did a quick google and could not find a single standalone receiver for sale :(

Edit, philips 5100 is end of line, no more stock is being produced and no mention of any replacement http://shop.philips.co.uk/store/rpe...ID.20578300?origin=google_3716990_331721866_B

Remember that -Option 3- does not have an IR Receiver so if you go with the Logitech you will need one of those too.

Years ago I got the M$ MCE Remote with IR Reciever and have upgraded the remote 2 times using the same reciever. Currently I am using the M$ Remotes IR Receiver with a Harmony One and quite like it.

I did some digging, and i'm not entirely sure that philips has discontinued these pruducts, as printed manual
that came with srm 5100 was printed in may 2009.

It is true that original MCE remotes mady by philips to M$ is disontinued, but SRM 5100 is some sort of universal learning remote
cabable of controlling amp, stb,tv&pc las update in their downloadable manual is updated in 03/2009. I highly doubt that philips would have done any updates if product is discontinued.

Note that there are two remotes that look very much same one is rc-197 another is srm 5100
