Iwas going to use a small ide drive for windows xp and mediaportal, and a large sata drive for storage but I cant get them to read correctly together.
Instead could I just partition the Sata 1.5Gb drive into 2 and use that instead?
Yes, when you install Windows, you can create a small partition (30GB?) on the drive. when the windows install is completed, you can create a large partition to use the remainder of the drive in Computer Managemet --> Disk Management.
Thanks very much Eeyore,
but I already went ahead and made a 50gig partition.
All went wrong and mediaportal was installed all over the shop , so I ended up removing the partition, uninstalling mediaportal and reinstalling and all is well.
Have encountered other small problems that I need help fixing but need to be posted in another thread.
