Indeed... I've got all my media on a single fileserver [Windows 2000 Server] running on my network.
I mapped a copule of network drives on my HTTP to the shares on that fileserver and then pointed MP towards those network drives.
Works like a charm, even with HD [x.264/720p or 1080p] content.

Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas what the problem might be. :(
