I can view the EPG on my client machine, but I cannot turn on the TV, view TV, or view recordings.

To test the server, I have installed MP and the client on the same machine with the server. This works perfectly.

I have seen many threads describing the same issue without help.

Did you follow the install wiki for openiing ports and try the wiki to use vlc player to test streaming? Also, check your logs (attaching them here can help others help you). On the server there is a button to open the folder, and on the client ther is an MPTESTTOOL installed.
