This was working fine just after I upgraded to MP 1.1.0, then it stopped about a week ago.

Setup is MP on fully patched (as of this month) XP Pro. IR used is the USB Microsoft MCE receiver/transmitter

I have removed/reinstalled the (latest test, July) build and get the same exception.

The IRSS service (in the tray) is grey - thought it changed to green when active - maybe this is related?

The error I get is inside the TV configuration for TV Blaster. The host is set to localhost (doesn't make a difference if I set it to the IP address), the [sole] card using this uses the predefined [Sky] Panasonic DB30 box.

On using the Test button in the config (for that card), the exception occurs and the message reads as given in the subject. (on line 643 of TVBlasterPlugin.cs).

So, OK it can't see the server - why not?

I did try using the Debug client but have NO idea what it is doing or how to make it do anything useful (says Connecting... and Send IR, but nothing happens).

I tried removing (and rebooting) the MCE registry keys as mentioned in the Documentation FAQ, but that seemed to kill my remote keys

I would attach logs (where are they?) - not in with IRSS. Anyway the problem seems to be that the server/service isn't visible.

    Additonal

There are NO IR ports specified in the 'Blast Command' window so obviously it can't blast - but why are there no ports when the MCE remote has (and did have) two?

First, thank you for the response.

Second thank you telling me where the logs were/are.

OK, deinstalled IRSS completely (didn't ask for reboot so didn't). Installed IRSS accepting defaults.

Installed as service, system tray icon there but NOT green. Tried the configuration but nothing came up.

Opened TV Server and (set to localhost), set my STB (Panasonic DBS30 or whatever) for the one card that I care about.

Comes up with the port selection dialog, but no ports in the drop down.

    Logs attached.

If there is something I can do to make the tray icon go green this would probably be it. But I am using the Microsoft IR keyboard anyway - so I know it is there...!

If I can try the Debug Client to get more info then just tell me what to do.

    Lastly, thank you again.

Please delete "C:\Program Files\IR Server Suite\IR Server Plugins\Direct Input Receiver.*" and report back.

Will try to check if this can be fixed on XP as it works fine on Windows7 both x86 and x64.

    Now working...?

I'm on holiday and so fiddling around with this (why?) and I deleted something that wasn't working (a USB CCTV camera system, SuperDVR) - has ZERO relationship to IR since it does not have it.

But somewhere in the process, IRSS turned green and started working!

No idea why or if it IS related, weird.

I had deleted the C:\Program Files\IRSS directory too (and then run CCleaner to remove any lingering traces in the registry) anyway.

One slight oddity is that running the system tray configuration 'crashes' on exit (has terminated unexpectedly...) - does keep the changes though. (It kept adding my FireDTV card, I just left the Microsoft MCE and the Windows Messaging.)

Thank you Simone, if it had not fixed itself [somehow] I'm sure it would have been more and more annoying - not least because the PC has 4 or so IR blasters in the various TV cards.

Hope it stays working now. Sincere thanks for your time and effort.
