Hi,

I'm configuring Media Portal and have 2 drives set up on my hard drive - one for applications and Windows XP, the other for all my data - movies, music, photos, etc.
When I try to change the various paths in Media Portal Configuration, so that they point to the data drive (and appropriate folders therein), even though I confirm the change, it doesn't save. If I go back into configuration, the old default paths are back again.

I don't think this affected all modules, but it definitely happened with the Movies folder and I think to Music as well.

Any ideas why the change doesn't save?

Putting aside the inevitable teething problems (probably user-related), I think the developers are doing an amazing job.
The built-in WebEPG program is fantastic, getting my UK listings from the Radio Times site. It's so simple to use, it's brilliant.

I can't wait until I can use Media Portal full time and do away with my VCR!

Thanks guys.

Okay, say the default location setting in the Movies configuration section, defaults to C:\Documents and Settings\alexeix\My Documents\My Playlists.

I want to change that to E:\Movies (when I have already created the directory Movies on the E: drive).

When I make the change in the movies configuration section and then save it, the change is <not> saved.

So when I fire up My Movies, I cannot watch anything, because the system is still looking at C:\Documents and Settings\alexeix\My Documents\My Playlists.

I hope that makes sense now - sorry if I wasn't clear enough.

I don't have Media Portal in front of me, so I can't be more specific about the menu option names at this point.

Are you performing these changes with a non-administrative user (or on windows vista)? Adminrights are needed, because info is saved in the program files directory. Vista because it protects the program files directory, so that you can save to it but it reverts to the original state...

Close MediaPortal before you use Configuration.exe. (Make sure it is not listed in tasmanager anymore.)

mbuzina: "Windows Version: XP SP2 fully patched" does not look like Vista. ;)

Quite right mPod - Windows XP.

Yes, I'm logged on as Administrator.

I'll try closing Media Portal and firing up configuration.exe. Is it in the Media Portal folder?

When changing sometghing in configuration, while having a running MediaPortal, you need to allow Configuration to restart Mediaportal, otherwise your changes are lost.
I've added a fix to svn, where a popup comes up and allows you to shoutdown MP before configuration is started.
Thus such situations will never happen again.
