Hi,

Just started trying out Mediaportal but I have trouble connecting to the streaming server from my Media PC. Even when disabeling the firewalls on both computers.

I assume its a setting problem, but the manual doesn't say much. Is there a better how to avaliable?

Pete

    Hi there,

We need log files and your config files - Without these we're blind :(

Check that the TVServer (under Streaming setting) is set to use an IP and not "auto". This will require a restart (sometimes helps)

    Thanks,

    J.

    Hi there,

If you read the great wiki, it will take you through the steps required of capturing all the required info:

    Log Files - MediaPortal Wiki

    Thanks,

    J.

    Hi there,

I had a quick look at your logs - they seems to contain several errors (and cover you doing several things over a period of time).

The main thing that jumps out at me are the database connection errors. MS SQLExpress (in your case) is what is used to store all the channel information (amongst other things).

If the TV Server can't connect to the DB, then you won't be able to see any channels, etc.

Have you gone into the TVSever configuration program - can it connect ok, can you see your TV cards, and their channels?

If you follow the wiki page above, and post "clean" logs for this specific issue, then hopefully we can get this solved.

    Thanks,

    J.

It works fine if I use MediaPortal on the TV Server PC but not from my other PC.

If I cannot connect to the db then how do I enable that?

I would be grateful for any ideas.

    Hi there,

Sorry for not getting back sooner....

You say it works for the TV Server PC (so in theory you have it set up as singleseat), but you also have another client HTPC that is configured to connect to the TV Server?

The logs above are from the client HTPC I assume (I hope so or you have big problems!) lol

When you say port 554 is available, is that checking from your client to the TVServer? Ie making sure the firewall is not causing a problem?

The other thing to test/check (this is from memory as I now run mysql), is that you have remote TCPIP connectivity enabled on MS SQL. I'm not sure what version you are running? But try the following:

From the start Menu go to the SQL Express menu folder.
In there launch "SQL Server Configuration Manager "
    Then click on protocols?
    Enable TCP/IP

This might require a restart of MS SQL/TV Server

    Many thanks,

    J.
