Cannot play .mp4 files (1 Viewer)

Hi...

Have searched this forum/google but still not found an answer ...

Am using the CoreAVC 2.0 as the h.264 coded to allow me to successfully place avchd files (at last!) but I
still cannot get .mp4 (mpeg-4v/AAC LC) files to play ... Currently have the codecs setup as :-

MPEG-2 : MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest)
H.264 : CoreAVC Video Decoder
MPEG/AC3 : ffdshow Audio Decoder
AAC : ffdshow Audio Decoder

Have tried using ffdshow for the H.264 but still the .mp4 files do not play ...

Incidentally they also don't play in windows media player ... but do so Ok in Media Player Classic!

Try running one of the non playing files through mkvmerge (google) giving a more widespread recognised mkv file, you will also need haali media splitter to be installed.

if above fails, then uninstall all codecs\splitters except CoreAVC, download shark007 Vista codec pack (xp\vista) or the windows7 version if you are on that OS, you can then set CoreAVC for h.264, but FFDShow should pick up any incompatible files that Core cannot play.

Also everything will now play inside WMP\MCE.

I'm having a similar issue. An mp4 film won't play in MP (or WMP) but does play in divx and PDVD8. The error message in MP is "unable to play mp4. video codec avc, audio codec aac version 4 lc".

I've tried playing with different codecs (MP Config, codecs and renderers) but this doesnt help. Any advice?

I have a problem like this aswell.
Couldent play mp4 og mkv, i installed halil mediasplitter or what it was and checked mp4 and mkv, mkv now work in mediaportal with no configuration Cheers.

Both mkv and mp4 plays in Windows Media Player, but mp4 dosent play inside mediaportal.
But mp4 still dont work Any idea?

SwissBuster - Try googling for and installing the "k-lite" codec pack -basic- and see if that resolves your issue

This is another thread that needs updating, use the MP extensions installer on your desktop to install the LAV filters, you may need to do a online update to see the latest, no other filters are needed beside the 3 which this installs.

Make sure you remove any other filters prior to doing this, and run filmerit to clear any registry errors (link in sig)

I am having problems playing mp4 files too. I do not get any error message. I tried different codecs and the LAV Fiters as well, but nothing changed. Video works fine with Media Player Classic and Windows Media Player.

Run Configuration -> Plugins and bring up the settings for the PureAudio plugin. Remove the mp4 extension from the extension list and click OK.
