After some testing that I have done it seems that I am not able to Pause, Resume or Stop a movie (My Videos) from the remote.
When I press any of these buttons, I get a message 'Not defined'.

On the other side, after checking the remote configuration (from iMON), all the above buttons are properly configured based on the MediaPortal shortcut definition (as in the Setup under General).

I am also able to use these buttons/functions when e.g. watching recorded TV shows!

Any ideas?

This is a rough guess, are you playing divx files? In that case please make sure that you actually give MP focus again after starting watching a file.
If I start watching a divx file here, the small icon in the taskbar gets the focus until i alt-tab to MP again. (Could change this making MP being always on top ofc.)

    Regards,

    Problem solved!

    Thanks for your valuable hint!

Yes, the movies are in Divx format and it must have been the Divx player given the focus over MP. After setting the MP to always be on top (General Settings), I am able to use the Remote Control commands as Pause, Stop and Play :) when watching videos.

    :D

Hmmm. I have MP to be on top and I still have this problem.

I had ffdshow installed. In case it was the Divx taking focus, despite having the 'stay on top' checked in General config, I tried to install this, but it said I had the wrong version installed to use that, so I uninstalled ffdshow and used the basic Klite codec pack (it has Xvid, not Divx, I believe) and ran another test. I still get the 'undefined' message with the remote for everything but the arrow keys while playing an xvid/divx .avi.

It's the Microsoft model:1039. It doesn't have colored teletext buttons below the numeric keypad.

I'm a bit confused. Since I'm not using XP MCE (I'm on XP Pro) do I need the MCE plugin... do I need the IR Server Suite... All I want to do is listen to my music, playback my .avi files I download, maybe look at some pictures. No TV tuner cards, no controling cable boxes, don't even mind turning off the telly with it's remote control.

I'm going to try to use the remote sensor that came with the remote (a black MS box with two resender units for controlling other devices, I guess) instead of the built-in reciever on the front of my case.

edit: OK, that seems to have solved it. The remote sensor on the Antec Fusion case was apparently not working properly. Strange, it allowed the remote's arrow keys to get me around, but failed to work the other keys/buttons properly. I wonder if not connecting these two wires has anything to do with it? There wasn't any information about them in the manual that I could tell. There was already a power connector for the display/remote sensor unit, the volume knob works, the power switch works... I don't know what it would be for.
