Hi there,

I can't control my DVD's read speed - it always seems to spin at top speed (which is noisy!) I've tried several methods for controlling the read speed:

* MediaPortal's DVD-speed setting (I've set it to 2x)
* Nero DriveSpeed
* Pioneer's "Quiet Drive Utility" and "Speed Control Tool"

I've tried updating my DVD-drive's firmware but that didn't make any difference.

My DVD drive is a Pioneer DVR-109 (it's also a DVD-/+R burner). It's a PATA drive.

I'm running WinXP SP2 (32-bit) and the latest SVN-version of MediaPortal (downloaded last night). My motherboard is based on the AMD/ATI 690G chipset.

Any tips and tricks? Or will I have to buy a new DVD drive?!

Thanks,
Jack

Hi there,

I've been doing some tinkering and I've discovered this:

Media Portal version 0.2.2 CAN control the speed of my DVD drive when playing DVDs.

Media Portal version 0.2.3 RC1 CAN'T control the speed of my DVD drive.

The latests SVN version of MP (as of last night) can't control the speed of my DVD drive either!

So - it looks like this might be a bug within 0.2.3 of media portal. Is anyone else having a similar bug?

Thanks,
Jack

Hi,
I have the same problem, can't control the DVD-speed , no matter what seetings I use - the drive always spins at the highest speed. AnyDVD works though, but it would have been nice to just use Mediaportal for this.
