Please help ! Can't get dedicated tvserver installation to work on my windows2003 server.
Older MP versions worked fine.
But now after advanced installation i try starting "TV-server configuration"
I get this bug report !!

"Failed to startup tvserviceSystem.Net.Sockets.SocketsException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 172.xx.x.x:31456"

What the hell is wrong ?
I tried MP 1.1.2 also but same problem..
I appreciate if you send this post to right place if i posted it wrongly, cause my children are waiting for tv to start working...

Have you tried to disable the firewall? Also which version worked? It's hard to tell what's wrong only by two lines of description and one error message...

and fill out a detailled description of your problem, that's your best chance of getting help.

Btw. Windows Server 2003 isn't officially supported by MP as you might know. -> MEDIAPORTAL - Requirements

Ok sorry I will fill out a more detailled description of my problem. I did not have time last night and children are crying ;-)
Yes i know about mediaportal and 2003 server, but it usually only ends up with a complain message(when installing MP) and it works perfect anyhow after that.
Yes I have disabled firewall and same thing happends, but my router has a firewall also, never have been forced to do anything with that before ?

One more thing is there a walkthrough to a total cleanup after SQL and MP. I think I must go in to folders and delete them and also in the registry to delete strings that are from my SQL database (Or where in the registry do I delete strings from MP and SQL?).
And after that do a new installation with MP and MYSQL.
It doesnt help with a total cleanup with MP and then add/remove program and take away everything with SQL, I've tried that and same thing happends, when I try starting MP tvserver configuration..

A guess but doesn't you need to rename the two .config.exe to just .config in the mediaportal install folder ?
Then restart tvserver and try tvsetup again.

I just have a "Mediaportal TVserver" folder on this machine and no config.exe ?
    Only
SetupTV.exe and TVService.exe in that folder

A guess but doesn't you need to rename the two .config.exe to just .config in the mediaportal install folder ?
Then restart tvserver and try tvsetup again.

    Shit pommefritt !
Cry_Wolf you are my savior !

I erased everything and installed with SQL express.
And now my directory looks like yours and as you said (renamed to SetupTV.config and TVservice.config) Where did you find this out ?

Nice to able to help. I'v had my share of troubles with MP and WHS It's something i had to do every install. Are a couple of threads on the forum about it.

Search for WHS and you will get some info about MP on Win2k3.
