    Hello!
I tried to load external subtitles by putting them in the same folder as the movie file and named it like the movie file.

    Example:

    Movie is e.g.
    King
    -> subtitle files are named:
    King-de.idx
    King-de.sub
    King-de-forced.idx
    King-de-forced.sub
    King-en.idx
    King-en.sub

"en" is for english and "de" for german. I can't select them in Video OSD. I'm using MPC-HC for subtitles in MediaPortal config. Do I have to set a specific folder for subtitles in the MediaPortal config? Are the subtitle files named wrong?

    Thanks for your help!

PS: I'm using LAVF Splitter. Can this splitter deal with external subtitles?

    Working here with these settings\naming.

I use the context menu for on\off, as sleeptimer linked to my yellow mce remote button.

Thank you for your fast reply! Maybe I have to rename my subtitles.
What Splitter do you use? MPC, Haali or LAVF?

But as I can see you use .srt subtitle format. Could you also test with .idx or .sub as format?

Works with sub as well, no idx files to test against.

Does mpc-hc play the movie with subtitles, that should be a guideline to a problem with MP not loading them.

Forgot to add using SAF6, so yes using lavfsplitter, did not enable ffdshow subtitle support on install.

MPC doesn't recognize the subtitles too. Maybe my naming is wrong.
Could you tell me the right? Is it filetitle.language.sub? And what do i have to take for german and english? Is it filename.english.sub and filename.german.sub? And what about external forced subtitle naming?

Just as a side note, have you tried the subcentral plugin, this gives you correctly named subtitle files, you need to ignore the torrent part of the name ;)

Yep, this naming seems to work! =) Subtitle are recognized!
Now I only need the naming for forced subtitles.
    Thank you for your help!

EDIT: I read some more and I think the file names have to be moviename.anythingyouwant.idx
Where "anythingyouwant" is just for description and is displayed in the mediaplayer you use.

Thank you for your fast and very good help again! =)

Well.. just an update. I can't get them to work with MPC subtitle engine. They also don't show up in MPC-HC. I need Vobsub engine to show them. KMPlayer shows the subtitles without vobsub but I guess this player has its own subtitle handling.
