Hello,
I am trying to get this working, but I am stuck.
The remote and keyboard do not work in MP after installing the IR Suite.
I have the lastest SVN installed. I am running XP Pro, and I have both MCE remote and keyboard.
Remote driver version is 5.1.2600.2180 from 7/1/2001 (Seems old)

I removed the keys in the registry and installed the 1.0.4.2 preview3.
In the Intput Service Configuration, both MCE are checked, and enabled.
One thing is checked, Disable Windows Media Center Services. Is this correct?
This input service is installed and running.
Translater is alson in the tray.

I moved the files from the default MP install, to my install directory.
In the configuration, plugins, I can see that the remote works, by expanding the buttons in the MCE remote and pushing buttons on the remote shows that the button is already there.

I cannot get the remote to work at all, in Windows or MP.

What have I done wrong?

Thanks for any help at all,
Rick

More info:
I have HIP installed but not running. I thought this work without it.
If I run HIP in the tray, I can control MP (launched from HIP).
I would like to have HIP uninstalled.

Thanks,
Rick

    Hey rick78,

I've moved your post to a new thread, which I think is a more appropriate place for it.

Can you post back with the log files from IR Server Suite and MediaPortal ? This will help me figure out what's going wrong.

If we can get this to work for you then you wont need HIP.

Also, you shouldn't move files after the installer has placed them ... the newer versions of the installer will let you customise the path at install time, so do that instead.

    Cheers,

    Hi Aaron,
Thanks for the reply. Thanks for making a new thread. I was just not sure where it should be posted. I did not expect it should be in the MCE Replacement Plugin, since I am not using this plugin.
Perhaps there should be a new section for the IR Server Suite.
I will be home later today and get the logs then. I do realize that I must have 1.0.4.1 installed, because it did not ask me where my MP install was. I will first remove the old one and be sure to put preview 3 in. I will test and send logs.

    Thanks for your help,
    Rick

    Hi again.
I did have 1.0.4.2 preview 3 installed. I just missed the install step for the MP directory first time.
Ok, I still have the same problem.
In configuration, plugins, MP control plugin, if I push the remote, it states the button is already mapped. So it works there.
In MP, it does not work. However, if I push the PC power button, the PC goes to standby. Not sure where that is set.
I assume I need to run the Input Service.
HIP is not in the tray. I am not sure which log file is the one needed, but think it is the input service log.

    Hey Rick,

I need the Input Service.log and from MediaPortal the MediaPortal.log as well.

    Thanks mate,

I had HID starting automatically a few minutes ago. I disabled it and restarted.
Here are the new logs after restart.
Again, I believe I am using the original eHome driver, and I deleted the keys in the registry.
I only checked the configuration and saw that the MCE is checked and the buttons work in the configuration.
I am not sure if there are any additional steps I have to do to get it to work in MP.

    Thanks again,
    Rick

Well, the log shows that it is receiving the button presses and passing them on. So the reason you're not getting any response is because whatever it's sending the button press events to is not acting on them...

I'll need to see your MediaPortal.log file also to see what the MP Control Plugin is doing.

I'm sure we will find the answer in the MediaPortal.log file.

    Thanks,
