Hey guys, I have been a WMC user for a couple years now. It works good but I ran into a problem when I wanted to extend the server to my living room and bedroom. You cant use a pc only xboxs or tvs witht the capability. It got me searching for a new solution and I was blown away when I saw what MP could do. So I took off yesterday to setup everything after researching here for a week or so. I got nowhere. I was dead stopped at the tv setup of the config (which was the first thing I did lol) Anyway, I have 2 tuner cards. 1 Hauppauge 2250 Hybrid card which I use as 2 QAM tuners. The other one is an avermedia combo card which has one connection for QAM and one for analog. Comcast forces me to have a set top box to get all the available channels on my avermedia analog card. Which currently with WMC works fine. The Hauppauge 2250 has the USB receiver which the blaster for the STB hooks to the USB receiver. When trying to set up Media Portal, I setup the hybrid card as per WIki then tried to scan for QAM channels. Nothing came up on any of the tuners I scanned. So I went to try to setup the STB. I saw I needed IRSS plugin which I installed. I tried acouple different settings in the IRSS program configuration including MCE transmit/receive, the Hauppauge option, as well as the USB-SRT? option. I also went into the MP plugin config and messed around in there with the different settings and nothing seemed to work. I can get channel 3 to scan a signal but nothing with learning codes for the blaster etc. I then found the info on here about using the Hauppauge config tool Blstercfg.exe? program that comes with WinTV. When I tried that it didnt even find the blaster hardware. Not sure how WMC can find and use it but that cant. Needless to say I was fustrated that I got nowhere. I am a network engineer so I have many many years behind a computer so I have the general knowledge. Just need a point int the right direction as far as what settings I should have instead of guessing at everything. And if I am going to be running into problems down the road. BTW I am running windows 7 with MP 1.2 . I started with 1.1.3 but after i was getting nowhere I tried 1.2 and that didnt work either. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
