Can't get past home screen? (1 Viewer)

Just installed FTR 1.5 and MP 1.1.0 RC2 then Streamed MP.

With the default blue wide skin everything works as it should but once I installed StreamedMP I get to the home screen and can scroll through the menu but can't select anything. Putting the skin back to blue wide sorts everything out and I can use the plugins installed with StreamedMP no problems.

Have tried uninstalling StreamedMP but same result.

Any ideas

Bit confused by this as have used MP, StreamedMP and FTR before (albeit different versions with no problems)

This is a bug in MediaPortal's skin engine. You see it in StreamedMP because the error is a result of the RSS feed on the Home page (something not in B3W). It seems the length of the news item is less than the separator.

You can try a few things to work around this:
1. Ensure you have a proper RSSFeed defined in the InfoService plugin
or
2. Don't use the RSSTicker/ Disable the InfoService plugin
or
3. Use the StreamedMP BasicHome Editor to remove the Ticker.

I really should provide a patch to the MP team to fix this issue as this is the 3rd time a user has experienced it.

Make that a fourth user to experience this problem... thankfully, I found this post.... adding the log message so others might find this post:

I am also getting the problem where I load the skin and I see the first item selected, then if I press up or down I cannot scroll anywhere. I can hear the noise, but, nothing can ever be selected.

I already have InfoService disabled in the plugins section, what else can I try?

If anyone was using the default RSS feed they should change it as it wont work anymore due to MediaPortal site change. You could also end up experiencing this issue as a result.

In MP - Configuration > Plugins > InfoService
Removed the default 'MediaPortal RSS feed' and replaced it with news.com.au (any will do).

MP working again.

FWIW I also experienced it today (the same lines in my error.log as the first poster) and resolved by disabling the info plug in. Many thanks for the solution.

Ahha I had this problem today too - switched to BlueWide and MediaPortal worked. Will try disabling the RSS feed and switching back to StreamedMP
