Well, I did as the thread said, but got the same error. Ill attach the hosts file...Maybe there is something wrong there, and I noticed some stuff about spybot in there. could that have something to do with it?

    Can I just confirm please:
    Did you rename it to hosts.txt for uploading purposes or is it like that on your system?
    Because it should actually be hosts without any extension.

    No the file is still just hosts without any extension. the txt file was just a copy for download....

    Edit:

    forgive my noobishness, but is it possible to just uninstall and re install the tvserver? or is that a bad idea?

    I must admit, you got one mean hosts file :D

    Mine basically only contains the localhost entry.

    But if this does not resolve your problems, we need other insights...

    Okay I replaced the contents of my hosts file with what you posted. and saved the old as hosts_old. save the new file, and no go. the thread you directed me to said no reboot necessary. so I didn't. This is very perplexing. I was getting somewhere with the tv side. now Im stuck... and I really dont want to install again, but if I have to...:D

    Edit:::::::::::::

    I gave up and just re installed the tv server. It works now, though I have to set things up again. thanks Rekenaar for trying to help. I really appreciate the fast replies.
