    Hello,

I am just trying to set up an HTPC based on an AMD Fusion E-350 board to see how this CPU/GPU will perform compared to my main HTPC with Intel® Core™ i3-2100T running with Media Portal V1.1.3

I face the problem that TV is not working. Scanning for chanels worked without any problems, but when I start MediaPortal and switch to the TV section I always get the error message: can't play live2-0.ts.tsbuffer. Preview in TV-Server Configuration opens only an empty window.

This is with MP V1.1.3 and also with MP 1.2.0 Beta svn-1.1.7.28106.

    Things I have already tried:

    - fresh windows 7 installation
    - no additional codecs installed
    - SAF 5, SAF6
    - disable firewall
    - fix IP
    - different TV cards (FireDTV S2, Digital Devices CineS2 V6)
    - move timeshift buffer from RAM disk to HD

    Unfortunatelly without any success :(

Sorry for the incomplete logs, but when I am trying to use the MediaPortal Debug Mode to collect them I am getting this error message: System.Text.EncoderFallbackException: Das Unicode-Zeichen \uDE4C im Index 776 kann nicht in die angegebene Codepage übersetzt werden.

Are you using UNC/SMB streaming (multiseat)?, if so is your timeshift share available in windows?
I see a lot of these

pete, it seems that you have configured network mapped drive for timeshifting
    2011-08-04 19:43:13.404979 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: tvhome:file:T:\\live2-0.ts.tsbuffer

    2011-08-04 19:43:13.496984 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: tvhome:startplay:\\slpmediatestpc\T\\live2-0.ts.tsbuffer - using rtsp mode:False
it is in general not recommended that you use non-local drives for timeshifting (at least for TV Server).
And it seems that T: drive gives you timeouts very often - it is either connected via WiFi, or just very slow.
Try to use a folder on your local harddisk for timeshifting and post logs again.

    Hi pete0

I suspect a configuration problem but I can't be sure. Could you please use the watchdog to grab your logs so that we have a complete picture of what is going on. There is excellent information about how to use the watchdog in our wiki -->here<--. Basically:
    1. Find the debug mode link in your start menu.
    2. Start MP with option 1.
    3. Reproduce the problem.
    4. Close MP.
    5. Post the zip file containing the logs here.

    Hello mm1352000,

I tried to use the watchdog to create full logs, but during creation of the logs it always fails with the error message:

"System.Text.EncoderFallbackException: Das Unicode-Zeichen \uDE4C im Index 776 kann nicht in die angegebene Codepage übersetzt werden." See also the attached screen hardcopy. After clicking 'Continue' the program is closed without having created the log-zip. If there is any other posibility to create full logs, please let me know.

Today I set up the system again, using an backup image of a clean (only drivers, no Codecpack...) Windows 7 installation. After windows was running I installed MP V1.1.3, configured it, performed a channel scan and to my suprise TV was working, no "Can't play live2-0.ts.tsbuffer" message! The funny thing is, that after facing this problem the first time, I deinstalled MP svn completly (clean) and installed V1.1.3 again, but the problem was still there.

After seeing that V1.1.3 works now, I upgraded to MP 1.2.0.0 svn-1.1.7.28106 and the error was back again. :(

In the mediaPortal.log I found this entries:

tvhome:file:C:\Timshift\live2-0.ts.tsbuffer <= looks OK to me
tvhome:startplay:\\slpmedia-PC\C\Timshift\live2-0.ts.tsbuffer - using rtsp mode:False <= is this normal, or is this a networkaccess?

Is this why some replayers think that I am configered a networkdrive for timeshifting?

My installation is singleseat and the timeshift file is configured (for all cards) to be on the harddisk under c:\timeshift.

    Hi again

"System.Text.EncoderFallbackException: Das Unicode-Zeichen \uDE4C im Index 776 kann nicht in die angegebene Codepage übersetzt werden."
I guess the watchdog is not able to handle unicode at some point. :(

tvhome:startplay:\\slpmedia-PC\C\Timshift\live2-0.ts.tsbuffer - using rtsp mode:False <= is this normal, or is this a networkaccess?
That is normal for a single seat installation. [Edit: having rtsp mode as false is normal, but the UNC path is *not* normal]

Is this why some replayers think that I am configered a networkdrive for timeshifting?

My installation is singleseat and the timeshift file is configured (for all cards) to be on the harddisk under c:\timeshift.
It seems like you have set up a share for this - \\slpmedia-PC\C\Timshift\. Most people just use a regular path like C:\timeshift. As Vasilich has said, shares can cause problems because of wrong permission configuration or access latency. Like Vasilich, I recommend that you test with timeshifting in the default path, or at least without shares involved...

    Hi,

I managed to get full logs, hope this helps.

Configuration of timeshift file is E:\Timeshifting, which is not a network drive, it is on a second partition on my harddisk. I have also tried the default settings for timeshift after a fresh installation, without success.

May be I should try MP with Windows XP, which, in my experience, causes less problems than windows 7.

    Hi again pete0

Please take the attached MediaPortal.xml and extract it into C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal, replacing the MediaPortal.xml that is currently there. Note that C:\ProgramData is a hidden folder, so copy and paste the path into Windows Explorer if you don't have viewing of hidden files and folders enabled.

    Hi,

    sorry for the late response.

Used your xml, but without success, TV still not working.

What I did now is a complete new installation of Win 7 Home Premium instead of using an image. After that I installed directly Mp 1.2.0 beta (singleseat), without first trying Mp 1.1.3 and guess what? No 'Can't play live2-0.ts.tsbuffer' message any more, TV is working! Encouraged by that I updated the installation to svn-1.1.7.28106. After that, the same problem 'Can't play live2-0.ts.tsbuffer' was back again.

Comparing the MediaPortal.log files shows to me, that when TV is working, the path in tvhome:startplay is as I would expect E:\....., when it's not working, the path is \\htcp\E\.... which looks for me as MP is thinking that it's a multiseat configuration and so the timeshiftfile must be accessed via network!

    MP 1.2.0 beta:

    2011-08-11 12:05:17.072871 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: tvhome:file:E:\Timeshifting\live2-0.ts.tsbuffer

    MP 1.2.0 v1.1.7.28106:

    2011-08-07 18:24:02.967492 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: tvhome:startplay:\\htcp\E\Timeshifting\live2-0.ts.tsbuffer - using rtsp mode:False
    2011-08-07 18:24:03.012494 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: tvhome:startplay: waiting for TS file \\htcp\E\Timeshifting\live2-0.ts.tsbuffer
    2011-08-07 18:24:03.031495 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: tvhome:startplay: waiting for TS file \\htcp\E\Timeshifting\live2-0.ts.tsbuffer

Could this be a problem during installation or compilation of the svn? After compiling the svn I installed first Setup-MediaPortal-svn-1.1.7.28106.exe and after that Setup-TvEngine-svn-1.1.7.28106.exe.

May be I should wait for the 1.2.0 RC
