This is frustrating and I need help, please.

I can't play a movie coded as mpg 1. Such as all VCD format movies f.e. I have a lot of homemade movies catched with an ATI all in wonder card together with music videos from the net which I am unable to play inside MP. Windows media player 11 doen't play them either. With or without FFDshow installed doesn't matter. I have also uninstalled reinstalled the Haali splitter. I can see that the classic mediaplyer doesn't make use of it. Is it a bug in Haali media splitter?
Because if I use Mediaplayer classic it works OK. I can also see the thumbs on the movies in explorer.

    Media Portal reports

    Unable to play: [filename]
    Video codec MP1V
    Audio codec: MP2A

This seems silly but there must be a simple sollution ?

    I can't play mpeg1 files, either.

Same here, except in my case Windows Media Play 11 will play the mpg videos & VCD files. MP won't. I have Haali splitter & all that jazz installed & frankly MP acts just like it did before. It has no problem with DVD files ripped with DVDShrink, no problem with avi, or the "usual" audio formats. I did put in the Quicktime Directshow Source Filter plugin & that took care of mov files.

    But for mpg? No joy.

Interesting, too, that nobody has followed up on this thread since it was posted in July... Must be just us two having the problem.

    Well, there's my 1st post.

    Hi djeaux
I couldn't solve it. I had to do a fresh windows and MP isntall to solve the problem. From now on I do images of the C disk before tampering/upgrading stuff, so that I'm allways able to go back.
