Tonight I uninstalled TV server in order to install latest version. I used Add/Remove programs to do the uninstall like I have done in the past. Then I went through the installer doing a default install. The files wound up where they should have and like previous installs there is no desktop shortcut created for the server. I attempted to start the server (TvService.exe) and that's when I got a dialog with the following message:

"Cannot start service from the command line or a debugger. A windows service must first be installed (using installutil.exe) and then started with the Service Explorer. Windows Services Administrative tool or the NET START command."

I tried to Start the TV service by going to Administrative Tools:confused:ervices but I got exactly the same result. Then I uninstalled TV Server and SQL Express (boy, was that a pain, the uninstaller left some entries in the registry which I finally had to remove manually). I reinstalled SQL Express and TV Server and got exactly the same result. Can anybody help me (I DON'T want to reformat the HDD)?

Well, I resolved my problem but now I have a new one.
The problem was that I should have used SetupTV.exe instead of TVService.exe.

The new problem is that somehow my installation is messed up, MyTV appears under Plugins rather than at the top level. Does any one know what went wrong with the install and how to fix it. MyTV appears to work fine in the Plugins Folder but now I can't see a recording I made with a previous version of TV Server.

Found problem but uncovered another one

I fixed the problem of MyTV showing up under Plugins by a setting in the MyTV plugin.

But I still have another problem seeing previously recorded shows in MyTV:Recorded TV. I have two files in my recordings folder (E:\MediaFiles\Recordings), one is an avi and the other is an mpg file.

In the TV Server:
Recording folder: E:\MediaFiles\Recordings
Timeshift folder: E:\MediaFiles\TimeShift

In the client:
Well, this is strange, there seems to be no place within the client to store the location of the recordings folder. Does the MP client get this information through osmosis (from SQLEXPRESS)?
