I am a newbee.

I am trying to scan NA FTA sat G16 C-Band. I have created a .tpl file with the following:

satname=G4 (99W)
3950,H,12296
4140,V,29125

For starters, is the TV-SERVER required? I do not have it installed, since this is stand alone. Running the setup, I can add my twinhan card ok. In the autotune section, I select no diseqc (cabled direct to lnb), C-Band LNB (5150), None for tone switch, and the G4 Satellite from the file I created.

When I scan I can't get any signal strength or quality at all.

What am I missing?

By the way, everything does work. I can use DvbDream with no problem.

    Hello oncewaslost,

    you don't need the TV-Server to run MediaPortal but it has some quite nice advantages (see the wiki for this). Have you installed the .net Framework 2.0 and 3.0 ? Have you installed the latest updates for your Windows installation ?

    The .net Framework 2.0 installed with mediaportal. I did not install 3.0. Right now I have a fresh install of XP SP2 and no other software but device drivers. I havn't done any windows updates. With my internet connecion it takes a loooooong time. But I will start it if you think iy will help.

    Thanks.

    Well SP2 came out in August 2004 so there are three years of fixes you don't have. You also need .net Framework 3.0 (Don't uninstall .net Framework 2.0 though since they work parallel).
