Hi all,
First of all I would like to thank all media portal team for the tremendous job they are doing.
Recently I acquired a DVB-S card to add to my HTPC and at the same time I decided to switch from standalone MediaPortal to Tv server, as my satellite dish has a h-h motor installed.
The DVB-S card is Twinhan Azurewave AD-SP300(1034) Mantis chipset, supposingly should allow two tuners installed in the same PC. And I can confirm as the card is working (scanning channels) using Twinhan software - DigitalTV3.3.
When I try to use the card withing TV server I got nothing but complete fiasko - PLEASE HELP.
I discovered two problems:
1. In TV server Setup when I select the card (BDA driver) and try to scan I receive message saying something like that: " Can't scan. The card is Locked. Perhaps another part of the hybrid card is scaning"
I have no idea what does it mean and where to start troubleshooting the problem. Ok, I have another hybrid card in the same PC and as I aware old 1034 (Conexant chipset) cards had the incompatibility issues with other analog tuners, I pulled the hybrid card out, reinstalled TV server and tried to scan again - the same message. the card is locked.
Obviously this problem kills the whole idea of having total (DVB-T and DVB-S) solution in one TV Server. So please give me some ideas on what I can do in order to fix the problem. As I am fairly new to the HTPCs and MediaPortal, please give me a bit more detailed instructions.
Just in case if it is relevant, I am using an Universal LNB 9750, 10600 MHZ.
2. Second pain is the h-h motor is not working. It is not working using neither DigitalTV or MediaPortal software. This is possible the card drivers issue, so please if anyone has any tips on how to get the motor moving under XP SP2 environment, let me know. I am using latest drivers for the card 1.0.5.9. Quite possible older drivers will do the trick, but I can't find them on a net. I also read somewhere that WDM drivers worked, is this the case?
Need to mention that the motor itself in a good working order as I can use it with my satellite STBs without any problems.

Thank you for reading.

    Hi,
I only have some advices for your first problem.
Normally this message should prevent that someone scans on multiple parts of a hybrid card. Therefor the server checks, if the card is currently in use.
But without a log it is very complicated to understand what is going on. So please try again to scan and attach all logs of the TvServer to your post. You will find a shortcut to the logging directory of the server in your start menu. Also you should tell us which card you tried to scan.

    Thank you for reply, misterd.
I will scan again tonight and attach all logs.
I am trying to scan my DVB-S Twinhan 1034 card. My other tuner DVB-T is working perfectly, I can't complain there.
I also forgot to mention that after I installed TV server initially, before my dish was aligned to the satellite I could scan, (obviously nothing was found), but at least it was scanning through transponders.
Then something happened I am not sure what exactly, locking the card completely. I have reinstalled the TV server three times (rebooting PC and erasing directory each time) but the problem stays with me.
Maybe I should reinstall the MediaPortal as well?

Reinstalling MediaPortal shouldn't fix the problem, since this all handled in the server itself.
When you reinstalled the tvserver did you also removed the database from SQL Server? Perhaps there were some wrong values stored that are responsible for this problem.

    This might be it. :D
I didn't remove the database. Can someone please give me brief instruction on the database removal?

Just came home after work and had all sorts of fun.
To start, I managed to fix problem 1. What it was at the end is for DVB-S card in LNB setup tab there is a box to override default LNB settings. LNB LO frequency to be entered in MHZ, according to the screen. Thats what I did by entering 9750 and 10600.
As I read somewhere else, the tuner card will indeed lock if the difference between scanned frequency and LO exceeds 2150Mhz.
When I looked closer at the transponder frequencies as they are entered into the satellite list I noticed that unit must be Hz, not Mhz. So I added 6 zeroes and this let me to scan.
I even managed to view freshly scanned satellite and terrestrial channels.
Then when I tried to go back to the TV server setup, it came back to me as it's not installed ???, by attempting to install it. Didn't look good, so I uninstalled the server and reinstalled it back.
All cards were there, I scanned all channels OK, but small problem - MediaPortal refused to play any channels, terrestrial or satellite. It comes back with error: "Cannot start Timeshifting. Unknown error occurred.".
It does look like I am not having much fun here.
I will remove the whole lot, TV server, MyTv Plugin, MediaPortal and SQ server and then reinstall it, deleting the actual folders as well.
As far as problem 2 concerns, I managed to contact Twinhan service for help. Hopefully they will get the issue resolved. So stay tuned.

As far as DiseqC1.2 and Usals support goes, I am still waiting on new drivers for the card to be released by twinhan drivers engineer. The good thing is Twinhan has admitted this is the card driver issue and comitted into fixing the problem. Once the driver is released I will be notified so this is a good thing, which suppose to fix my problem #2.
The problem #1 when TV server fails to scan DVB-S card producing message the card is locked, is a bit weirder then I initially thought. Every time I cannot scan with the message I need to toggle Override Default LNB settings checkbox. The frequency entered in Mhz or Hz seems doesn't have any effect on the outcome. I got it working with 9750000000 and 9750 entered exactly the same way. The only what makes a difference is the checkbox being checked or unchecked depending on the initial box status when problem happens.
The TVserver log file records only exceptional error message ....?
Is it a bug, or related only to this Twinhan AD-SP300 card drivers only?

    Merry Christmas to Everyone !!!

I really need some help from more experienced users and hopefuly developers.
Everything is working for me except satellite scanning. To be exact I can scan satellites by toggling "Override Default LNB Settings" checkbox. This works fine if I had only one satellite to watch.
Let me explain the problem I am having in more details.
I have motorised Ku-band dish and using new drivers from Twinhan for my card I can move dish to any position I like. This part works very good in TvServer setup. The problem is if I scanned Satellite #1 having the "Override Default LNB Settings" unchecked and Satellite #2 with the check box checked, then when I watch channels let's say from Satellite #2 everything is fine (as the last status of the checkbox was 'unchecked'). If I decide to change to a channel from satellite #1 (which was scanned with the checkbox checked), the motor rotates the dish to the right position, then after about 40 seconds delay I either receive black screen (when in full screen mode) or message - "Can't start Timeshifting as no Audio or Video Signal" (when in MyTv home). After that motor rotates dish back to the original position and plays the last channel I watched.
This is TvServer issue and has nothing to do with the MediaPortal itself, as I get exactly the same result in TvServerSetup Preview window.
I also checked TvServer logs, no errors except the message that the card is locked. If I toggle the "Override Default LNB Settings" checkbox I will be able to watch satellite #1 and will fail on the Satellite #2.
I always check the log files and no errors can be seen.

This problem really drives me crazy, what can I do, please give me your suggestions.

    .....................................................
The Tv.log file shows me starting TvServer setup, setting up a Hybrid card (I didn't do it before as I have only one hybrid card in the system). Then I attempted to scan OptusB3, the card was locked. I clicked the LNB override box and scan went OK.
Next I switched to another satellite - Asiasat4 (122.2E), motor moved dish OK, the scan didn't go ahead as the card was locked again.
It sounds to me the card is not stopping after finishing a task. If it's up and running, then it willl refuse to work as it is not free.
Can someone please look at the problem, I have no idea what is going wrong here.

    Anyone?

Am I the only person not being able to setup more than one satellite?

I looked through the source code and the error I am getting is related to the card being used. But it is not used, TVServerSetup shows it as Idle.
What is happening when I click the "Override Default LNB" checkbox? Why is the cards gets unlocked then?
