Changing channels with IR-remote
As this is my first post to this board, first of all my congrats to this great software-and all the coding and maintenance efforts carried out daily - being even not always realized on commercial programs.
At the moment, everithing of my MP setup works pretty fine, except that I can not change TV channels by number keys on a generic IR remote (accesed via WINLIRC3.dll plugin). That means, while in fulscreen TV-mode, I can not directly change to e.g. channel 5 by pressing "5" on my remote, however, it works when I enter a number on my keyboard. From the Winlirc-status button I can see that all numbers pressed on my remote are received, and I have properly associated all numbers to the relevant sections in the plugin configuration dialog. Any ideas of what causes the channel change via remote number buttons not working?

Welcome to MP, I may or may not be of any assistance but want to ask about your TV card, as I recommend it on another post.
How well does it integrate with MP, also how responsive is it.
that's all about your card, now about your problem with the numeric keys.
This is also a issue for mce remotes as well, but microsoft install keyboard as part of driver for remote so numbers operate ok.
You will need a keyboard to Map too (yes blatantly obvious I know) the exact details i am not sure of and that's where my limitation ends as never could get Lifeview remote to work, Hence the MCE remote & Keyboard

    Best Wishes

    thanks for your kind welcome,
your question about my TV-card: I think it integrates (or is supported) very well into/by MP. There is only one thing I regulary observe, being one short "stutter" for the video part as son as I start watching TV or after changing chanels. This "stutter" occurs about 5 sec after starting watching (in both, fullscreen and windowed TV-mode), but only occurs once (so at the moment I dont care about) when staing on the same channel. When I then change the channel, the actual channel being displayed stutters again once, then the channel is switched, and again one stutter occurs on the new channel, but then everything runs smooth. Btw., I have channel switching times of about 3 to 4 sec., might be of interrested as I saw some posts complaining about long channel switching times with MP :)
The other thing I noticed, is that when I have MP installed, the original software of the card (Liveview DTV) gets somehow corrupted, i.e with the manufactures software I am able only to watch the channel I have last viewed in MP (in detail some more channels (3 or 4) as long as they are transmitted from the same provider). I also dont care about this because the original soft is not a media center application but only a watch and record TV application. However, it is certainly affected by the MP installation, because when I uninstall MP, the original soft is fully functional again (I think there was another post on this in the forum, but I saw no solution).
Back to my original topic, so there is no real solution to the channel switching problem with an IR-remote?

To use channel changing with number buttons, you have to send real keystrokes instead of ACTION_REMOTE_0 - 9. Girder or sth similar might help you there with your generic remote.

Ah, o.k. now I got it. I will try something like this. However, this seems to be only a "semi-solution". So if there are already these ACTION_REMOTE_0-9 sections implemented, will they be usable for this purpose (at least I think they are there just for this) in a future MP version?
In the meantime, thanks for the answers I got!

Just to let you know that I got my generic remote buttons now to work and how. I had a look at Girder as suggested , however, for my purpose thats a kind of overkill application. Googling around I found "Miriserver" (http://www.sixdots.de/miriserver/en/). As I didnt want to remap all my remote buttons to keystrokes, I left the WINLIRC-plugin in MP enabled, only mapped numbers 0-9 on my remote with Miriserver (setup as winlirc-client) to keystrokes - thats it.
Another question (maybe off-topic?) Is it possible to change the text strings appearing in the overlay on top in fullscreen mode indicating channel 1, channel 2 etc. after channel change by number? I.e. can they be associated or mapped to the "real" channel names as appearing in the channels setup?

    That's not possible yet.

    Hi mPod, just saw this:
On 11/05/2006 [10:31:57] mPod added the following change: TV channel name is shown when entering channel numbers in TV fullscreen.
    Incredible, you guys really rock!
Thanks for this great support, I couldnt imagine that my "whish" will be realized so soon.....

lol! I overlooked your request. It just pierced through my eye when using TV some days ago. So it was pure selfishness.
