Channel Conf and EPG (1 Viewer)

I am not clear on how to get TV channels set up correctly in MP . Manually is not an option - no paitience for that

I see in config how to select the country but nothing seems to relate to my situation, which is Comcast - Analog - Richmond - Va - USA. Any suggestions?

Also EPG does not work. Not sure about chicken/egg. Do the TV channels download from EPG or vice versa?

You'll need to scan the channels then use the USA EPG plugin to get the EPG data.

I figured I needed to scan channels. Just wondered how. Any suggestions?

I looked in Documentation, FAQ, search etc. I can't beleive I am the first ever to need to know how to do this. I must be a moron or the documentation is not complete.

Not in front of my box ATM but...

In the MediaPortal Setup (configuration.exe)
Select and expand Television then select Capture Cards.
Select your TV Card from the list on the right and select Edit.
In the new Window one of the tabs should have the auto-tune.

Depending on the version of MP you are running (stable release or SVN build)
the latest Zap2it EPG plugin can be found here:

You will have to sign up for a zap2it account.

Slowly but Surely

Patrick - I set up a Zap2it account and then installed a new MP followed by the Zap2It plug-in. The EPG works. Thank you.

I am now trying to get the names in the Guide to show channel details such as Ch 12 = WWBT NBC.

I tried "Import from TV Guide" from within Config-Television- TV Channels, but it indicated something related to XMLTV was missing.

What is XMLTV?- Is the Zap2it plug-in used instead of or in conjunction with XMLTV? What does it do?

How about WebEPG - Is the Zap2it plug-in used instead of or in conjunction with WebEPG?

I am a little confused about what you mean by "channel details".
If you mean the channel name, the zap2it plugin can rename them for you
or if your EPG is setup and working you can rename them yourself
in the MP configuration.exe.

All three are "Instead of".
They are all different ways of getting EPG data and loading it into MP.
If you try to use more than one at the same time I am not sure what will happen
but probably not good
