I just built an HTPC for my father-in-law and used 2x cheap tuners in it - an avermedia super 007 and a geniatech. They both work ok for SD TV, but there's a notable difference in quality between them and the hvr-1100 I have in my HTPC when playing HDTV. Both of them have very slow channel-change times, too, which can be a wee bit annoying. The other card I have in my htpc is a DTV2000h (leadtek), which is ok quality wise, but has slower channel change than the Hauppauge. Im not saying spend lots of money - I got the two cheapies for about $25 each on ebay, the Leadtek for $35, and the Hauppauge for $35. The Hauppauge is the pick of the bunch by far. In my experience spending the $10 extra made a worthwhile difference....</blockquote>
