    Hi,

I was wondering whether it is possible to choose a song by
simply pressing for example 6 on the remote to start playing song number 6
like I used to do it with my old cd player.

Pressing button "6" I get an "m" as a result:

    Ok, next try.
Pressing button "6" several times in "mobile sms style" I get the desired "6" but again nothing happens.

Is it generally impossible to choose a song by pressing the according button on the remote or did I oversee something?

yes this is sms style (use shift with keyboard)

At the bottom I see "18 songs" therefore I doubt that the tracks following Track 12 feature a tracknumber of 61,62,63

Maybe you should try the database views as well. Typing "me" will instantly jump to Metallica then.

    thx for your answer

with pressing "6" I simply wanted to access/play song number six ;)

Maybe you should try the database views as well. Typing "me" will instantly jump to Metallica then.

but then again we have one or two problems
    - if there's only one, it will jump to it, but won't play it subsequently
    - if there are several metallica songs, it will jump to first and again won't play it subsequently

I asked myself the same question some time ago and found no answer.
I think, but this is my personal opinion, the several parts of Mediaportal should act similar to the corresponding standalone device, in this case a CD-Player. If you listen to an album, the method with the letters is extremely uneffective. Also in TV-Mode, there should be a Hotkey for Videotext etc.
But the Developers/Designers seem to think different about this.

There is a hotkey, you just need the correct remote. :p
No, honestly... You can change those mappings of remotes & keyboards if you want such a hotkey. The Hauppauge remotes have such a button and it's mapped by default, for example.

About intuitive usage of modules: I like the idea that they should be able to be controlled like their correspondig stand alone devices. This way it would also be easier for people to "jump start" into MP with full control power. I guess we will have it in the long run, time will tell. ;) But you know, developers are always busy, busy.... :D
