Choppy playback with HD material (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I've just updated to the latest RC and the same of SAF and have MPC set for x264 (see attached graph). I get very choppy playback on1080p material , even though CPU usage is never running more than 30/40%.

DXVA does seem to work in MPC and Zoomplayer as playback is generally silky smooth there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm at my wit's end here, even considering abandoning my PC to get a Popcorn hour!

    Hi!

Did you reinstall the SAF package after updating to RC1 (It is necessary after each MP update)?

... did the trick for me.

Right, not sure if I'm talking to myself here but after playing around I seem to have isolated the issue.
It only occurs with 1080p material when played on my LCD TV (mon2) via HDMI, when I play the same file on primary monitor it works just fine.
I have tried changing the setting in Nvidia control panel - single display mod/ multi/ compatibility etc but with same result.

As I previously said, others players seems not to exhibit this problem, so is this an MP thing with multi monitor support? (note, I'm not cloning the display, it's extended)

    Cheers

I'm using screenselector to open mp on my cecondary monitor (Lcd television connected via dvi-hdmi)
In nvidia contol panel i set the "dualview" mode (let you use 2 independent resolutions and all settings can be different for the two screens)
Extension gives you a gian desktop ad lots of restrictions on the settings
Btw, using dualview i have no problems and smooth playback
    give it a try

    Hi,

which version of nvidia control panel are you using? I've attached screen shot of what I think you mean

    29864675.jpg

With extend I have my two separate resolutions, it's clone that would give me a giant desktop on secondary monitor.

After playing around further I think it has to do with refresh rates. If I play problem file X at first then it stutters, if I then play a file that's OK and go back to file X, that one plays OK too. So it must be somehow setting the refresh rate.

I'm gonna have a play around with nvidia refresh rates and force refresh rate in MP later on.
