We have been being told since June it was almost done. will be out soon etc. When is the new udpate coming? Seriously why drag this out so long, Are you implementing 10000 changes? If so wouldnt it make more sense to do only a few at a time and push out regular updates. Whats gonna come first Christmas or the update?

Your gall astonishes me. We have families, and jobs, and we develop Moving Pictures in our spare time. Some weeks and months we have less time available to devote to Moving Pictures than others. Rather than complain, why not offer to help? This is an open source project! And if you can't program there are many other ways you can help. Testing, documentation, translations, community support; none of which you are doing.

IIRC, there where something related to MediaPortal's current state that breaks stuff within the plugin. So instead of nagging (the plugin's working near flawlessly with the features currently at hand) just hope a new release of MediaPortal shows up soon, and perhaps Moving Pictures 0.8 will follow.

not to defend the initial poster (the tone was definitely out of line) but you also have to admit that it sucks for the users to constantly be told: "it's almost finished" and then week after week goes by without any updates...
Everyone can understand if you guys can't put in that much effort atm but just tell us. Say that there won't be an update for the next xxx weeks and end of discussion.

The sense of entitlement some people have is astonishing.
I'd just like to thank the developers, and let them know that the vast majority of users really appreciate their hardwork and are enjoying the current iteration of the software, while looking forward to the new release. Most of us understand that you do this for free, in your spare time, and that we are lucky that you are doing this in any capacity and in any timeframe. So please just ignore the obnoxious minority - there are plenty of people from enthusiasts to families that enjoy the fruits of your work everyday.
I'd just like to thank the developers, and let them know that the vast majority of users really appreciate their hardwork and are enjoying the current iteration of the software, while looking forward to the new release. And fair enough DieBagger. The next version is pretty much feature complete. We have been working on ironing out major bugs over the last few weeks. The only significant tasks remaining are a few translation fixes, some prerequisite checks in the installer and default categories for a new or upgraded install. So yes, we remain almost done, it's just a matter of finding the time to get everything finalized.

Where does all these moaners come from? First it was MP releases they were moaning after (oddly that has almost reduced to zero nowadays ) and now it is the plugin releases.
Like many have already said, it will be ready when it is. There are just too many real live variables that affect open source development. And even without those it wouldnt be possible to hit some specific dates with a release. Just see how badly commercial software manages to keep the features and deadlines? (nothing against the commercial software, as it gives food for my family).
