Hi Forum,
My forst day in the forum and as a noob I have some problems right away.
My CI is not recognized by Media Portal and I need some help finding out why.
Here is my configuration:

MP 1.1.3
Win XP latest SP
Technisat Skystar HD 2 with CI addon card
Unicam Unicrypt Module Rev 2 latest software

I can enable CAM and set the number of parallel decoded channels (did set it to 1)
but The Cards CI Menue does not show the CAM
All other cards/software-cards are disabled
Is this config going to work at all?

SD and HD programs work unless they are encrypted.
Technisat DVBViewer is installed also could that be the problem?
Do I need other drivers than the Technisat ones (Twinhan?)

Are there good tools to check if cam is recognized by card?
Which log files do I have to look out for?

Any help is appreciated

Thanks in advance

robin

    Hi robin

    Welcome to the forum! :)
I think we should look at your logs before we make any guesses about what might be going on. Can you please use the watchdog (information in our wiki -->here<--) with option 3 (export all currently present logs) to create a zip file of all the logs that we need, and then post it here.

Thank you mm for the quick reply,
when I get home tonight I will gather the logs and upload them.
First I will deinstall the DVBViewerTE to make sure that there is no conflict. I read in another thread that there could be problems recongizing the CI when DVBViewer is installed.

    Thanks
    again

    Hi again Robin

The CAM is definitely recognised, and I can't see any problem with the decoding on the TV Server side - from the looks of the logs, it is decoding perfectly. I see attempts to view RTL 2 HD succeed twice, VOX HD succeeds, SAT.1 HD succeeds... the list goes on...

I do see a problem on the client side. *Lots* of PES failures:

    27-07-2011 20:05:24.546 [f20]Pes header 0-0-1 fail

    27-07-2011 20:05:24.546 [f20]Pes 0-0-1 fail

    27-07-2011 20:05:24.562 [f20]Pes 0-0-1 fail

    27-07-2011 20:05:24.562 [f20]Pes 0-0-1 fail

    27-07-2011 20:05:24.578 [f20]Pes 0-0-1 fail

    27-07-2011 20:05:24.609 [f20]Pes 0-0-1 fail

    27-07-2011 20:05:24.656 [f20]Pes 0-0-1 fail

    27-07-2011 20:05:24.671 [f20]Pes 0-0-1 fail

    27-07-2011 20:05:24.671 [f20]Pes 0-0-1 fail

This indicates the TsReader is having problems playing the stream, either because it is corrupted or encrypted. Please make a short recording of an encrypted channel with TV Server and try to play it in VLC. Let me know if it works...

    Regarding the CI menu:
The Skystar HD2 is a clone of the Twinhan AD-SP400 and the Terratec Cinergy S2 PCI HD. People have reported problems with the CI menu function for the Terratec C series card (very similar to the S2 series) -->here<-- so I bought a Skystar HD2 to test with. After a small modification to the driver install script (ini file) I can confirm that I'm able to use it with Terratec Cinergy drivers. I have not yet had time to test whether it works with Twinhan drivers, although I strongly suspect that it will. I now need to purchase a CI interface so that I can test the CI menu functions. This is very costly for me since these cards and their CI interfaces are not available in NZ - I must buy them from Ebay (Germany usually) and pay very high shipping prices to get them here. Nevertheless, I will try to get a CI in the next couple of weeks and see if it works.

    Hi mm,
    thanks for your analysis.
I've tried a short recording but had only media player and PowerDVD available for playback this morning before getting to work.
Both showed a black screen so it is possible that my HD+ card is not active yet. Maybe I'll have to activate it in a different receiver.
I will try that but won`t find the time to do that before the weekend.
    Thanks again
