would it be possible to add an option in the GUI to clear the thumbs cache ?

at the moment you need to quit MP and go into the config tool to press the button.

a true media portal should not need to rely on a keyboard/mouse for functions like that i think.

therefore it would be a good idea to have a button for that in the GUI somewhere.

this would be handy to clear the music thumb cache and let the "auto find" function do it's job without having to quit MP.

I second that!!!!

My machine is only used with a remote... I'm adding music files throught network and also altering and changing the folder.jpg's by network. I don't want to quit MP and start the config... So let there be a button in the settings -> music part to clear the thumbnail cache!

you don't need to clear the cache when adding new files - the on-demand-function or a simple scan should be enough. As the thumbs are created in the background with lower priority you'll see them when entering that folder / view the next time.

i found that isn't the case though

i changed a "folder.jpg" file in one of the album folders.
went into the folder - still showed the old deleted thumb
did a re-scan (from with GUI) - still showed the old deleted thumb

why is this the case ?

Ah okay, you're right then. I've understand you're adding new items ;)
For updating existing thumbs you need to rebuild that of course.

ok well to do that i think you need to clear the cache.. and you need to exit MP to do that.

would it not be a good idea to have an option to do that within the GUI?

sorry I was only thinking about scenarios like at home. I do only "sort-in" albums with good covers and never change them later. In addition I wouldn't like to delete all thumbs and rescan serveral thousands of files to recreate all just because one has updated..

Maybe I'd set windows explorer to thumbnail view to find out the "bad" covers in thumb cache and delete those only.

i think you are missing the point

i set a cover, and at a later date i "choose" to change it, not becuase it is bad or not, but because i want to change it.

in this instance i need to quit MP and clear the cache from the config tool (not ideal in a home environment set up with no keyboard/mouse)

in this case it would be good to have the "choice" of doing it via the GUI.
