i'm trying to watch live TV on my client comp running XPsp2 but no luck.
i opened required ports on my htpc server, client connects to server and reads SQL database so i can see epg guide. even tried to disable firewalls on both server and client, but always the same - i get error.log with following lines:
2008-12-21 14:15:34.000000 [ERROR][MPMain]: TSReaderPlayer:Failed to open file:rtsp://TenorHD/stream3.0 :0x80004005
2008-12-21 14:15:34.031250 [ERROR][MPMain]: TSReaderPlayer:GetInterfaces() failed

when i look at TV Server Config, Manual Control i can see my client comp started Timeshift on channel i selected.

any clue?

    If you record a file on the tvs erver (in .ts format) and then try to play it by the client (thru my movies) does the same error still occur?

    nope. in that case fullscreen video opens but i can see only first frame and then video freezes. in error.log there is:
    2008-12-21 14:48:41.156250 [ERROR][MPMain]: Control has invalid animation type
    2008-12-21 14:49:20.062500 [ERROR][MPMain]: Control has invalid animation type

    in first case (live tv) i get in TsReader.log:
    21-12-2008 14:43:33.546 [1484]CRTSPClient::getSDPDescriptionFromURL()
    21-12-2008 14:43:54.500 [1484]Failed to get a SDP description from URL rtsp://TenorHD/stream3.0 connect() failed: Invalid argument

    tnx

    doh, i found what was the problem. i had to manually select correct streaming IP address in TV server config :confused:
    now it's working even without workaround i mentioned in the post before.
    hope that helps someone too... maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to mention it in wiki guide where is described installing tv client.

    Hello,

    I'm facing the same problem. Could you please describe more in detail which file you edited? I haven't found any config files on the server allowing to edit IPs or hostnames related to streaming...

    Thx in advance!

    Hi and welcome CandamirBS :)

    You can set both the streaming port and IP address in the "streaming server" section of TV Server configuration.

    Hello,

    thanks for the reply. I found that for some reason (which I haven't figured out yet) the dns server in my network doesn't resolve the FQDN of the workstation where Media Portal is running on. Changing the FQDN to the IP address in the TV server helped. Now I will deal with the dns problem...

    Again :D
