I'm very frustrated. The video guide is out of date (for v0.2 and very different) and I've read the out of date Wiki.

Installed MP 1.0.0.2 on the Server machine with its own Client and it all works well on that machine. Now I want to add 2nd machine for lounge use but it connects but won't give me any TV. Every time it selects my_TV it minimzes the graphics and then hangs doing nothing. No picture.

I've tried looking at log but cannot see why.Its a fresh XP install, MP Client only (obviously) and I use the IP address of the server in TV config. I can play videos direct from the server so its not my codecs etc (I have K-Lite Mega Codec pack).

Please can someone help a noob? I'm wanting this to impress wife with the idea of a HTPC but its not working. My friend with XBMC keeps harping on about how great that is but MP will do TV as well as everything XBMC does (or Mp SHOULD do TV!)

Thanks guys/gals

This log is not enough, you need to produce all the logs for both the TV-Server and Client PC's.....you don't even have the TV-logs attached...

As for the Wiki.....we (you included) as a community are responsible for maintaining it not only the developers. So perhaps you can update the Wiki once you have figured your problem out.

I'd have a look at the 1.1 BETA release. I believe there have been a lot of fixes and I KNOW that works fine in multi-seat (server-client) setup because I have just set it up over the past few weeks after running a single-seat installation for the past year.

It didn't take much to setup. I have 2 x dual tuners in my server, installed the server side there, installed the client side on my HTPC. Made sure on the server I had the default RTSP stream port set, set the server name in the client and it just worked.

I use a different software front end for my main HTPC software BUT I have never been able to get TV software working as well as MP does. For me it installs and works and when you have to contend with the WAF factor, it's one of the leading forces that allows me to spend time tinkering and buying PC hardware. The missus can schedule all she wants and watch it when she wants (commercial free) leaving time for me to do what I do :D

Couldn't see much in the logs either, but i'm no MP expert.

Right I tried 1.1 and I've progressed a bit further. I've put the default port (554) in the server set up. I've also opened port 554 in the router (plus 31456 and 3306 for some reason I cannot recall!!)

Now I can get the client to see the server and it retrieves the EPG info but I still get no video.

I get an error: "Unable to play: stream3.0" "Audio codec"

So I look at audio codec setup in TV Client

I have ffdshow, Monogram and Default Direct Sound under my 3 audio selections plus monogram set to mix to 2ch stereo

I think I am definitely MUCH closer but still not working. I installed SAF 4.00RC1 as well.

    Any ideas pls?

U'll probably have to re-post the logs from 1.1

When setting up my client / server setup I got that error also BUT it was because the RTSP port on the server was set at 0. After I entered the port to connect with it all started to work.

On the codec side of things I am using the default MPC MPA decoders and FFDSHOW. In their default state it all seemed to work (just tweaked round with the audio settings for surround sound.

I'm losing will to live :( I've been unblocking every port I can on the router without success. Trying every combo of IP address and port for the streaming server... Always the same... I will have to dig logs out for 1.1 and see if someone can tell me what noob mistake I have made!
