Hi.
I noticed that MPV and MPA codec have a lot higher merit value than Nvidia purevideo. When I tried to change settings in purevideo when playing a MPEG in mediaplayer10 the small purevideo icon in the taskbar never showed... When I used GSpot i noticed that MPV and MPA was used instead of PureVideo.
RadLight Filter Manager showed the value 04000001 for MPV and MPA while Purevideo had "Preffered +1" (00800001).

Why does MPV and MPA have this high Merit and how do i make PureVideo my prefered codec for DVD and MPEG?

configuration.exe/DVD/DVD Codec
configuration.exe/Movies/Movie Player

Those settings are used for sure. You can verify it if you connect with Microsoft's Graphedit to the MP graph when you're playing back something.

Okay. I'll try it again.
I already had Nvidia Purevideo as prefered in DVD and Movie. But I'll tr and change to MPV/MPA and then back again and see what happens..

Btw, the tray icon does not always come up when PureVideo is used in MP. As said, the only way to check it, if you don't trust MP, is using Graphedit.

Hmm.. I dont trust MP anymore.. ;-)

I just checked MP again and NVIDIA is my selected decoder.. And it still uses the MPV decoder(Confirmed by Graph edit, GSpot)

According to Radlight filter manager the merit for MPV is 0x40000002
while NVidia is "Only" 0x00800001

I think there is some mistake in the Merit value for MPV it maybe should be 0x00600000(Normal) and not 0x40000002

This is clearly a bug... Can you fix it or do I have to change the merit manually every time using RadLight filter manager? Or any other solution?

Thanks.

Ps. MPA has the same problem...

hmm that's strange because the merit should not be used in MP... they add the filter manualy to the graph.

I noticed the same problem, for me the solution was to either lower the merit or the better choice unregister those codecs

Wasn't the merit changed to "Do Not Use" a short while ago, due to issues that GBPVR was having with the filter?

Maybe this is what the 0x40000002 means?

Frodo posted that even though the merit was normal, GBPVR was attempting to use the filter and was failing. As a result, it was changed to Do Not Use, becuase MP could use it if specifically requested, but nothing else would try and use it. If that isn't it then maybe it has changed with a subsequent version.
What nversion and SVN of MP are you using? Knowing if it is from before or after that change would help.

Well.. My HTPC uses MPV and MPA even if their merit is 0x40000002(whatever this means).

I have to manually decrease their value below NVIDIAs in order to use the Nvidia decoder. :-/

If MediaPortal is using graphs instead of Merit values then it would be prefered if the MPV and MPA codecs gets a very low merit like 0x00400000 which is "not prefered".

I think simply there has been a small bug/typing error which puts 0x400 instead of 0x004

I hope this can be fixed.
