on various things including getting HDTV to work people seem to think changing the codec makes some difference, I would expect it to but it doesn't. for example on one PC (the one the attached profile is for) I can not get 10 HD or 9 HD to work but 7 is OK, on another PC running a client only connected to the same server I can get all channels. on the working machine I can change to whatever video codec I like it still works on the other it makes no difference what I use it just never works. using graph-edit/connect to remote graph says I am using the codec as selected (tried on working machine).

can somebody explain how this works? the posts dealing with getting HDTV to work all seem to deal with needing an appropriate codec.
