I understand that for UK Freeview HD broadcasts, ffdshow is the recommended audio codec for AAC to get 5.1 when broadcast

I have been struggling with this for a while. In MP config, under TV and LATM AAC, I only have 2 choices - LAV or Monogram AAC. I have it set to LAV. FFdshow is an option on some other (nonAAC) settings

I have found that Shark007 was pre-installed on this HTPC and I can see that I can make some setting changes there which are implemented. But although in Shark I have set under AAC to use ffdshow and also disabled LAV, LAV is still the option that MP Config offers and no ffdshow

Is there something else I need to do in MP to allow ffdshow as an option?

I would actually uninstall Shark007's codec pack (used to use that myself on Vista) and just try using the latest Lav 0.50.2 filters from the desktop MP extensions installer, Lav is updated regularly, so latest may work now.

If that does not work then install SAF6, that will then give a pre configured ffdshow audio for digital users, I suggest this as a last resort, more codecs mean the possibility of more trouble, that's why I dropped the shark007 pack when Lav was introduced.

Thank you Ray. I was hoping not to need to do anything dramatic (I am a cautious user) but I am sure yours advice makes sense
