Hi,

I searched the forum for hours now, but I can't get an answer om my 'burning' question.

I want to configure Mediaportal with an analog TV tuner and a DVB-S sattelite card. But before I bug a dvb-s card I want to know the following:

On these 2 sources(analog and dvb-s) i've different channels. The television broadcasts on analog i can't receive on DVB-S and visa versa.

Does this al work with EPG?

If i choose a channel, can mediaportal decide om what tuner this channel is? Also with recording, will mediaportal chose the right tuner card for this?

I hope to get an answer soon

Regards,

Arno

I'm not a guru of MP but for what I can see Mediaportal can map a sigle channel on multiple cards. Each card has a preference number, so if you have e.g. channel 1 on satellite card with preferece = 2 and channel 1 on analog card with preference=1 mediaportal will use the higher preference card whenever possible. If you are recording something with satellite card e.g. on channel2 you and you want to see channel 1, then MP will use channel1 on analog.

I don't like this system so in my channel DB I have s-channel1 (satellite) and a-channel1 (analog), i have set then as two different channels.
But I did this by hand editing the channel database, so it's not for beginners.

About EPG, you can configure two sources for EPG. You can download from internet the EPG for analog and use the epg contained in the tv signal for satellite.

thanx for the answer,

If this is the way it works than this will be the reason to say goodbye to MCE and welcome mediaportal.

hmm.. is it also possible to map streaming internet television to the guide? That would be fantasic too... :?
