After reading the features list how does this really differ from XBMC other than supporting TV cards. There are other apps that do similar like Meedios that is free as well. Does MediaPortal support transcoding like watching hulu on my pc and have it transcoded/streamed to my projector? hope i'm making sense there. Reason why I ask is because I have found two kwl apps called Tversity and Twonky and would really like to see a comparison between them and MediaPortal.

No, you can't compare them.
Both are media servers which can support media devices like xbox or, at least the way they started, the Dlink DSM series.
You can't do that with MePo. On the other hand, there is no way in hell to work with live tv in either one of both.
