Hi All,

I recorded a dvr-ms file using Media Center Edition on my notebook.

Transferred the file to my desktop PC which has Media Portal installed.

Is it possible to compress this file in Media Portal?

I can find it under videos, but it doesn't appear as an object in the TV module.
Probably because it wasn't recorded by Medial Portal.

Anyone know how to get Media Portal to compress files that were recorded in other systems? I'm guessing the trick is to get drop the file in the right directory??

Thanks in advance ...

The file is not in the database, so it doesnt show up. No idea how to get it in the database. I suggest simply doing the dvr to mpeg2 conversion on your laptop.

Its not really a conversion anyway, it just removes some extra datatags that make it the dvr format, so its really fast. The quality of the video will remain 100% intact and what it is to begin with anyway: a mpeg2 stream.

This file, you can easily copy/compress/orwhatever you want to do with it on whatever machine.
