Hi guys, was wondering if anyone could help me out with a post-installation error with my Media Portal setup.

after installing Media Portal on my laptop, i tried to run the configuration.exe file. i saw the settings appear for a split second before the application crashed and closed. subsequent retries to open the configuration.exe file resulted in the same crashing of the file, without even getting to see the settings window at all.

the only available log file i could find on my computer was the configuration.log as follows :

what does this mean? doesn't seem like there's any error in the log, what is causing the program to close? because of this i can't access the media portal program.

i did not install the tv server program as i don't need to view tv, only the core mediaportal application to watch networked movies/videos.

any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

pardon my ignorance, i only just got up to speed with media portal a couple of days ago, haven't had a chance to familiar myself with its settings.

how do i run configuration without any arguments? any command-line deletions/addons?

i tried double clicking/running configuration.exe again, and this time the log file came back without any debug sections :

but the program still attempts to start, then quits without letting me see any application window.

i noticed that when i try to run the media portal main program (mediaportal.exe), the log file i get is this :

2009-01-29 10:20:08.078125 [Info.][MPMain]: MediaPortal.xml not found. Launching configuration tool and exiting...

which i then try and attempt to run configuration.exe, where as above stated the program quits without showing anything.

-----

is there any other config/debug log file i can look at to try and solve the problem? seems like the program tries to run but then it unexpectedly quits. the 2 log files i have don't really shed light on the problem.

i've done google searches but i can't seem to find anyone who has replicated the same problem that i have.

thanks!

sorry, I'm really busy those days :(

Please look in the forum for "CleanUp_MP_TV3_v1.2beta.vbs" and run it. IT will completly remove all files from MP and TVE.
    Then reinstall...

nope, still can't get mediaportal to work. i tried to run the vbs script again and got a 800a01ad VBS error.

tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the same problem.

is my configuration limiting the running of the program?

    hp mini 2133
    via 1.2ghz
    2gb ram

i wouldn't think that the laptop configuration would be limiting the program
