Hi all,

Since yesterday, I was using Meedio and decide to gives Mediportal a chance.

Let me say congratulation to all the team, you made a really good job.

Installation quite simple, setup of TV a little bit touchy because of the firewall configuration, but finaly OK. Setup of MP not so difficult, remote control integration.... Really impressed.

I'm missing from meedio the easy way to configure the home and create dedicated group in order to launch my son games (will see later how to do it), but the first steps with MP makes me fell happy.

Waiting for the French forum to come back, in the mean time, let me congratulate you once again.

I guess you are not using WindowsFirewall, otherwise the installer takes care of everything

If I'm not wrong, in the mini html guide shown at the end of the installation you ar epointed to a firewall config when using 3rd party apps for taht porpouse.

Great to hear that you got MediaPortal up and running without too much issues.

Regarding the "stiff" home menu, thats sadly one of the weak parts of MediaPortal.
Not sure if any developer will (finally) make it more flexible because this is a planed feature of MediaPortal 2.

Totally depends on how fast our developers manage to get into it, now that albert nearly finished the core.

Alberts estimate is about one more year develpment to get MP 2 in a state where it can replace MP1.
But totally depends on the efforts other developers and designers put into it.

Hi all,

Coming back to my meedio missing feature, creating a group to launch my son games, I check the "plugin + extension" section of the site, looking for a plugin to do the job and found "MyPrograms".
Reading the forum, I saw also "MyProgramsAlt", but seems that none are working with curent release of MP. Is it really the case ?

As mentioned in some other thread, before to install skins and many plugins and makes my platfrom unstable, I ask here for users feedback before giving the plugins a chance.
