Connect a mobile phone screen to pc (1 Viewer)

Bit of a shot in the dark but has anyone ever read anything about how to connect a mobile phone screen to a pc??

Me thinks it would be great to use a screen on the front of a media centre (and no i cant afford a silverstone lol)

Just connect your mobile phone to Mediaportal, and leave the screen in it... with enough effort, it can work (see my other thread...). It effectively becomes a mobile VFD/LCD with remote control included.

You can built your own if you can buy the appropriate LCD screen off ebay. I made my own for about 15% ($20AU) the cost of a brand name one.

Yes it can be done. You can interface the screen via a Pic Microcontroller. Here is a page that talks about doing just that:

And connecting a Pic to your PC is easy (if you have an old skool serial port ).

As for then getting media portal to work, I guess a plugin would sort that out, I don't know much about that side.

Actually, you might be able to chop out the Pic all together and connect more or less directly to a serial port.
