Synopsis:: -

I have been trying for several hours a day for 10 days to get a tv picture but no luck. I have posted here but no help. This is my last effort before switching to gbpvr or the like.

I don't think there is any point in giving further details at this stage as no one has responded before to my previous quite detailed post. What I would like to do is "speak" by email or PM to someone with a successful install on a sky STB setup.

Just to recap - I have about as standard a setup as you can get - a sky pace digibox connected by scart/composite leads to a haup mce pvr 150. This connects to a standard tv via svideo. MCE 2005 and gbpvr both find a tv signal OK but I really want to try MP which is supposed to be superior to them.

Either very few sky users have an MP setup or very few frequent this forum or none of them ever got MP to work

Hopefully the third possibility is not the case. Any sky users out there with MP??

Thanks in anticipation

Sorry no one has responded to your thread.

Im fairly certain there are folks around that have STB with MP [maybe not Sky ?!].

There are folks around that use DVB-S cards. I for one have a technotrend DVB-S card which I use for all the FTA from the Astra Cluster [BBC1-4, ITV1-4, News 24 etc etc]

There are some other users that use a DVB-S card with CI, Dragon CAM and then watch Sky with their Sky Card.

BTW Hope you don't give up on MP too quickly.

Thanks for replying. I have had a look at gbpvr and it installs my setup really easily, because they have a specific sky stb plugin, would you believe.

However, there are a few things I don't like. For example, the tv guide text for programs does not scroll so you can only see the first 3-4 lines of the writeup of a film etc. I understand that MP DOES have scrolling text, or some other way to see the whole guide. Mind you, since I can't even get a picture, I can't test the scrolling bit anyway  . GBPVR also is not a very intuitive program and it is more difficult to change some settings. It has a separate config/setup program so you have to quit gbpvr, fire up the config exe, make the changes, save, exit, and start again with gbpvr. Very convoluted.

However, everything in it does work . I just hope someone here can help with sky stbs ....

Thanks Dave. Actually, I had found that thread but nothing in it helps my cause. I tried what it suggested but zilch!!

I think the installed base for MP is actually very small - certainly in and around the UK - otherwise there would be something on the net. I even googled the net more generally and there is tons of stuff for mythtv, gbpvr, sage and everything else but nowt for sky and MP.

Oh well - I'll just have to carry on with gbpvr until I get a lead....

Thanks for trying

RJ

PS - I hope it is not just you and me in here
