Control DSTV with HTPC remote (1 Viewer)

Hi Guys,

Good news first, bought my first LCD TV last weekend, could not stand viewing MediaPortal on standard TV, the app is so great for that, and i must say I'm not disappointing,very NICE!!!

Now to my latest dilemma , i want to control DSTV channel,recording with my HTPC remote, i have the Hauppauge 150 MCE +Remote+Blaster, i have followed the guide below, i must be missing something as i still cannot change the channels.

Ok lets see...

I have a hauppauge blaster but it doesn't work so I had to get the MCE remote. I still use the Hauppauge remote as I prefer the button layout.
Check this wiki entry:IRServerSuite/TVE3 Blaster plugin to configure the IRServerSuite for blasing.

I use the second channel(a whole other issue) on a dual view decoder so I had to manually teach the IR codes for each button. I only use the 0-9 codes anyway. First go to "IR Commands" and create a new file for each button. Then go to "STB Setup" on the "Plugin Setup" page. You want to set it up so that for each external digit command, you select the corresponding IR command that you created. I think there might be some profiles for DSTV under the Quick Setup that you could try instead.

If the blaster does not change the channel, you can test to see if it is working with a camera phone. Just point the IR leds at the camera and you should see it flashing.

If you can't figure it out, give some more details on your setup and what you've done so far and we'll take it from there.

With your help i was successful in controlling my DSTV with my HTPC remote, thanks man

I noticed that in IR command, for the port setting i had to select "port_2" (where the ir is plugged) , somehow it does not work if i select "Both" as suggested in the guide.

My DSTV to Mediportal connection was RF now i have changed to,DSTV -RCA to TV Card, please help on setting up MP for recording from defferent DSTV channels?

Not sure what you mean.
If you set up everything correctly and can view/change channels in MP then recording should be no problem.
MP will change the channel for you using the blaster when it needs to.

What i meant was, i wanted to setup media-portal to schedule recordings from different DSTV channels, i was a bit confused about this, but i was able to figure it out after spending some quality time with the HTPC,
