I have installed Ultra VNC server on my HTPC and Ultra VNC viewer on another computer in my home network (wireless). I can connect to the HTPC but wether MP is running already or not all I see on the computer I'm connecting from is the desktop of the HTPC. Is there a setting or something I'm missing?

    Hey,

I'm using WinVNC, so I'm not sure if its the same with uVNC but I'll assume it is. There is an optional Video Hook driver that essentially speeds things up by grabbing alot of output directly from the gfx card instead of having to do so via the CPU. If this is enabled, DirectX Applications (such as MP) will not show correctly. You will have to disable that.

Right click your Tray Icon (on the Server - the MP machine) and select Properties (not admin properties), you should find the option to turn the video hook driver off from there.

    Hope this works for you.

exactly - plus, never enable this were you want speed (not speed through ultravnc, but speed on the computer you are watching)

Even with the video hook driver, I never saw any good results. CPU usage was just as high (if not higher) and it ran no smoother. If you use Turbo mode with UltraVNC, you can at least get a few FPS, smooth enough to see the menu rendered quite decently.

Bandwidth isnt the issue, and neither is CPU time. With or without the video hook driver, it rarely exceeds 25%. The video preview window is actually quite smooth, just its not good for handling fullscreen video obviously.
