Core Duo T2300E cpu - appropriate CPU? (1 Viewer)

Hi,

Is an Intel Core Duo T2300E processor going to be happy running Media Portal and will it be able to keep up with Hi-Def if I want to upgrade?

The clock speed is 1.66GHz, so not that much higher than the minimum requirement for Media Portal, but I'm guessing that the dual core functionality renders that clock speed irrelevant in this instance.

I'm currently on an AMD Athlon 64 3200+, but I'm thinking of upgrading my hardware.

Can anybody advise?

i would be more interested i what video card you have, it may be a better option to upgrade the video card instead of the cpu, unless you do lots of post processing and re-encoding, then maybe the cpu is better for you

I have a Sapphire Radeon 9600XT 256MB, but I'm thinking about changing that too - it's just too noisy in my Shuttle case.

I've tried reducing the fan speed using ATITool, but it doesn't seem to make any difference at all.

But that's another problem...
