Couple of questions before i spend the money! (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

Thinking about my new HTPC.. Will be used for HD..

Looking at the following:

Asus 780g motherboard with Integrated HD3200
Athlon x2 250
Hauppage HVR 2200
2GB RAM
500GB HDD
Unknown what case as yet. Possible Thermaltake DH101.
Windows XP SP3

Though my questions are:

Should i drop back to a cheaper CPU and instead get a dedicated gfx card instead of integrated? Ie: Get the Sempron LE-1300/Entry model x2 and instead get a non-gfx integrated mobo and drop in a Radeon 4350/4550?

Or will the integrated do the job as long as its backed up by a HT3.0 processor? (i will be doing all HD).

And lastly i am looking at getting one of these remotes:

GP-IR01BK
GP-IR02BK

or
Newegg.com - Anyware GP-IR02BK Vista 2 channel IR Remote Control

But want to confirm they will work with mediaportal on xp.. (they say they are Vista MCE certified) and even more so if i can reconfigure them to use my logitech harmony..

personally, I i think the cpu is overpowered and the gpu is underpowered. A lot of people on here have had difficulties with the 780g. I cant speak from experience though. However, I think a Sempron would be a bit under the odds. What about a 4050e/5050e and a 4350/4550?

If you go separate GPU, consider the 4550 as a minimum - the 4350 is probably not much better than the 780g+HT3 cpu.
