My embedded cover art is not displaying. The following is what I have configured.

    1. I have all my MP3s in one folder.
    2. I am not using folder.jpg files.
    3. Under Music|Music Database|Use for thumb creation, I have unchecked "folder.jpg" and checked "cover art embedded in ID3-Tags".
    4. Under General|Thumbnails I have left the default "Create folder cache on demand" checked and have clicked "Delete all music thumbs".
    5. Under Music|Now Playing, I have checked "Disable internet lookups for cover art".
    6. Under Music|Player settings|General settings, I have left the default "Use ID3 tags" checked.
    7. Under Music|Music Database, I have run the "Update database from selected shares" option.

so you have 1 folder with hundreds of files inside?

    are they tagged?
We only can show album art, if the file is coretly tagged.

Believe me it is working perfect

Yes I have one folder with about 2,000 songs. All are well tagged (using MediaMonkey). I'm very anal about that. My embedded cover art shows in other apps no problem like WMP and MediaMonkey. I believe you that it is working. I actually remember this worked perfectly for me a long time ago with an older version of MP. Here is a screenshot showing the cover art in WMP.

check your Thumbs\Music folder, if it contains album art. if they're there, then i see no reason, why they shouldn't be displayed.

    I second that :)

However - my most recent changes to fix image extraction if the cover is unreasonable large or corrupt are not part of RC4... MP 1 final should be able to display everything that you put into that file. Or should I say: The next release will be able to play the MP3 attached to your images :D

    What quantifies as unreasonably large?

On a related note - when I've downloaded images for Artists, the large pictures just seem to be resized (upscaled) versions of the smaller thumbnails and look a lot worse than the originals on last.fm - see attached files for example.

    Last FM Hosted - 500x333
    131753.jpg

    MediaPortal Small - 140x93
    qgbananpqonm8wvpbbm5_owerbirds.jpg

    MediaPortal Large - 600x400

I have my thumbnails set to the highest setting in MediaPortal, but could the Last.fm plugin either a) not resize the Large pictures or b) have an improvement in the resize algorithm?

The largest setting is only for very large displays like projectors.

The resizing is superb as well therefore it's option
    c) Last.fm doesn't provide higher resolution images.

    See their API results:
    artist.getInfo Web Service ? Last.fm

If you find a deterministic way to retrieve the high quality images you're more than welcome...

I'm amazed that they only offer 126 x yyy as the largest image. Sorry, hadn't realised that it was the way in which Last.fm made their data accessible, I meant no disrespect...in fact I only have respect for the whole MediaPortal team and the community developers.

Aside from manually downloading images for artists, would an info scrapper, similar to the way that movie posters are scrapped from impawards.com for Videos, be possible?

Speaking from the code's point of view - yes, of course.
Most sites however prohibit such scrapers. Furthermore an API is designed for constant reliable access while websites itself may change quite often...

I am having the same problem.
all my MP3's have the cover art embedded in them, I have unchecked the use folder.jpg option and checked the embedded option but the cover art does not display. The size of the embedded album art would not be huge, it has all been gathered off amazon.com using mp3tag v2.42

I'll wait for the the release of MP 1.0 to see if it works :)
